I think that wheel size and offset or backspacing is an important part of this, since I'd bet that would explain why straight_six's look the beefiest even though it should in theory be the smallest, and the trucks are all the same size.
FWIW, I just picked up a 2004 long bed, crew cab (or whatever dodge calls them) last night, which should be the same size as the megacab trucks and am thinking about doing the same thing.
straight_six, do you have any pictures from the front or back of the truck so we can see how much yours stick out? Do you know what offset or backspacing you have?
