so then please explain why tire manufacturers do not recommend a 14" wide wheel on an 8" rim. I bet not many users would recommend that combination.

How tall of a tire you plan on runnin. The more sidewall the better off you'll be tryin to put it on that wheel. I have 33x14x16 boggers on my toyota, and i couldnt put them on a 8 inch wheel, had to find a 10 inch set.

I ran 33x13.5-20's irocs on my old ZR2 jimmy on 20x8.5 Rockstars. The tread doesnt sit as flat on a skinny rim and curves causing you to wear out the center of the tire faster especially when towing. I know a guy that ran 38.5x16-15's on 15x8's. The tread had a crazy round contact patch but he didnt care that the centers wore out fast.

Exactly. I think it's fine if you do a 37x13.5 on a 17x8.5 wheel (that's what i plan on doing). But a 33x13.5 on say a 20x8.5 wheel would probalby look and function like crap.

why do lift maunfacturers say only 35's will fit with 6" of lift...? it all depends on what you're doing w/ the rig...my 14" wide tire worked just fine on an 8" wheel, even when run at 7 psi (didnt pop the bead)...as far as ride, it did just fine...he's just asking a question and im giving a real-world answer
