These Wheels dont fit???

I got a good deal on some Factory alloy wheels from a dodge 3/4 tun truck to replace my cheapo alloys today but they dont fit. Stupidly I Dismounted all 4 ofthe tires off of my old wheels and mounted and balanced them on the new wheels without bolting them up first. The problem is the front wheels work fine and fit like the factory wheel is supposed to but the wheels wont fit over my brake drum on the rear. My truck is a 95 2500 with a dana 80. Did they make different wheels for the dana 80 and 70 trucks? whats the deal?

quote from dodgeram.org -

"2000-2002 2500 2WD/4WD Forged Aluminum Wheels:

* Lug Pattern - 8 on 6.5", 9/16" bolt
* Rim Size - 16x8"
* Offset - 6.25"
* Max Tire Size - ??
* Notes from Mike Cash, who installed them on his 1999 2500 4X4 with a V10: These wheels will not easily fit older Rams because the brake drums and steering components will not clear the rim.
o Rear: Have a machine shop turn the widest part of the brake drum down by about 1/8.
o Front: If clearance is a problem, grind the steering components just enough to clear the wheel rim. The tie rod ends may need to be lightly touched with a peanut grinder. Make sure the front wheels are pushed all the way back to the rotor, or you could cinch up the lugs and bind the wheel in a bind/angle= wobbly wheel. It is a very close tolerance at the center circle in the wheel in front, but the wheels will fit."

The wheels look to me like they are off of a newer 2nd gen probly a 2000-2002. So i have a brake lathe Should i just be able to shave off 1/8th in from the outside of the drum to get it to fit? It did look like it just touched
