Who is ready for deer season?
I swear its already starting to slightly feel like fall...or maybe its all in my head....either way, im ready for some deer hunting. I thought it might be interesting to discuss where all of us hunt...might include some pictures as well. Ironically enough, I found a guy on a diesel forum once that hunts less than a mile from where I hunt. I'll go first.... family owned 650 acres in southwestern Hamilton county, Gentrys Mill/Pottsville/Energy area. was a 1 buck county til last year when TPWD introduced the antler restriction hunting...1 trophy 1 cull. I've killed a deer there that scored 133 gross....another that grossed 126. My uncle has killed deer that grossed 131, 133, and 142. Not bad for what was a 1 buck county for years. I've been planting an oat field food plot for 4 years now on this place, just planted oats again last weekend. I've seen 50 deer on it at one time before....thats unheard of in that part of Texas. 212 acres in northern Mills county, Caradan area to be exact. Only had the place 2 years....horns aren't as big but theres tons of deer. We primarily use the property to bring friends and clients out to hunt. We had a blast out there last year...killed 8 does and 6 bucks....didn't even put a dent in the deer population. family lease in Kerr county, roughly 1000 acres. My grandfather and great uncle originally leased the place 43 years ago. We still hunt there every year and the price on the lease has never gone up. $1200 for 1000 acres, cabin with water and electricity, whitetail, sika, axis, antelope, fallow, occasional elk (haha no joke), and hogs. Hamilton County pics ![]() my buck that grossed 133" ![]() ![]() Kerr County.... ![]() ![]() Mills county.... son of a family friend....this kid is 9 years old and fired a rifle twice in his life. he has also dropped 2 bucks both times he fired a rifle. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lets hear about your hunting, wherever it may be in Texas....

No its not in your head...the weather has been wonderful and it is starting to feel like fall...maybe cause its only 2 weeks away from the first day!!!!!!! Bring on the huntin baby!!!!!!!!!!! I may try and go out to our ranch in Ozona this yr...didnt get to go last yr...but we have a 3000 acre ranch there, a 1500 acre ranch in Fredricksburg, a small place in Campwood, another small place up in Camden (north of Livingston), and a place to mess around and shoot mainly hogs and a few small deer up in Centerville!

I had a lease last year in Gidding, Tx. Was a good lease but the land owner decided to let an oil company come in and set up a pad and start drilling right in the middle of last season, so we got off that lease and are trying to find a new place to hunt. Cant wait for the season to start though, just hoping i will be able to hunt texas this year.

I have almost 2000 acres in northern missouri right on the border of Iowa. bow season starts in six days for me but i don't start hunting till the middle of October because it's too hot to do any good and i hate pushing deer after i shoot one.
