oil cosumption

i checked my oil at about 3000 km's and it was full, then when i check it at 5000 km's its about half way between the safe min and max lines, i ran rottella synthetic and CAT oil and it happens every time.
Does anyone know why this happens??or what i could try to stop it

Can you see any visible leaks in the engine compartment or under the truck? How many miles are on your truck? Mine still doesn't need any oil added between 5000 mile oil changes at 124000 miles. If you have alot of miles or idle time on your engine it is normal for it to use a little oil.

Cummins considers anything less than 1 quart in 1500 miles acceptable. Seems you are a bit more than that.

One thought, oil seems like to takes forever to run back to the pan after you shut it off. Do you check your oil in the morning after it has set all night?
