Iv received the notice about the recall twice.
Shortly after I got the first one, I had some work done by the dealer and they asked if I wanted the recall installed. Told them NO.
They have it on their computer that I have refused it.

If someone is assisting in the backing up of the trailer, consider investing in a cheapy pair of FRS radios.
Just a thought.

That fix will work fine... As long as when you put the truck in park you leave the door open in case it shifts into reverse. If yo shut the door when it does it it's just gonna roll away without a peep.

back-em up and no.... honk

A simple solution would be to splice a timed relay into the horn power or the door switch ?? Press of a button in the cab to temporarily disable signals or horn output..... Shouldn't be so difficult I would think

The infamous local dealer was going to do recall while repairing rear leaking window. Lucky for me the idiots signed off on it and the flash was never done. Would you believe the #%@*'s installed a non-oem rear slider that costs 100's less, one that most glass shops wont even consider using on dodges. Gonna have talk about window next week, I'm pi$$ed

I would be ticked off also if they installed non-oem parts. Good luck with your "talk/yell" session with them!

Hey just joined the site and going through some old forums. I remember when I made this mistake of having this done. My fix was just pulling the fuse on the horn. Sucks not having a horn, but at least it isn't honking everytime I get out!

If it is the brake lights coming on that makes it not honk the horn. Maybe, and It would be a pain in the , but maybe you could put a toggle switch that you can turn on when hooking up the trailer. Flip the toggle, and just leave the brake light switch engaged til you are done. Surely there is some wire you can tap and toggle it so that you can hit the switch while hooking up and turn it back off when you are done? OR toggle switch the horn wire?

I don't have that headache, but on my enclosed trailer, there is a seam on the front that I can line up in my rearview to get within one inch everytime, and from hitching daily, I can tell how far away the trailer is. Another trick is to make sure you are perfectly lined up by making sure you can see the same image of your trailer in each side mirror. You can back up until you are fairly close, then get out and walk to your trailer coupling. Look from directly over the coupling at your ball and see if it is pointing at your coupling. If it's pointed to the side, correct as needed. Just take it easy and feel for the light bump. Once you feel that, you'll need to come forward about 1 to 2 inches to line the ball up with the coupling and you're all set to connect. I do this daily, and I started out taking about 5 attempts until I got lined up. Now, it's almost always lined up on the first shot. My coupler lock on the trailer helps get me out to check. It has survived many a bashing by a hopeful trailer owner (4 times in the last year and a half) and I will never leave it alone without it. Mine is a Masterlock the basically has a "ball" that fits into the coupling and a plate that fits over the front and acts as a clamp to keep it in there.

there is a code you can do to disable that... it involves the seatbelt, the door, and putting the truck in drive, reverse, and neutral in some sort of combo. My dads '06 3500 did the same thing and a ex cummins certified mechanic friend of ours turned it off that way. I will try to find out how he did it. and let ya'll know!
