Hopefully someone sues DCX for causing them to have an accident (I could see someone gassing it into a parked car or something because they were startled by the horn)...

What irritates me the most is ALL the manufactures put bandaids on MAJOR problems instead of fixing the underlying cause...sorry, but if the gear shift doesn't fully engage park when you stick it in that notch, then that is a problem in the linkage, not operator error...

Oh my god thank God I read this!!! I just bought a 2003 Dodge 2500 a couple weeks ago, first diesel I have ever owned. When I first brought it home I wasn't really used to backing up the truck so I opened the door to see how much farther I could go back and I got the beepbeepbeepbeep scared out of me!!! I thought something was wrong with the truck!!!! Good thing it is normal because I thought there was an electrical short or something.

Well I cant entirely answer that question!!! An out of aligned shifter could cause that and that has been a common problem too!
Just a guess.
