There have been many times in the 3 weeks that I have owned my 05 that I put it in park, and the reverse lights stay on, or when I go to start it it wont, but cause its "not" in park. That warning flash they are putting out it a crap lawyer answer to something else that is wrong here. I dont know if its mechanical or electrical, but it seems the gear selector needs to be upgraded.

I've have a 97 w/47re and sometimes It'll hang in rev now I double check the gear selector. Thinking of using a manual column and a b&m rachet shifter.

Our 05 has the "update" for the backup alarm. IT SUCKS. I also have a new "feature" that's going to be checked at the next oil change - when the lever is very much in park, the little box won't light up around the P on the instrument panel. The dash, therefore the STUPID F&^%&*@##ING ALARM, doesn't believe the truck is actually in park so I can't get out without all hell breaking loose. And of course, I always let my turbo engines idle down before shutting off....so I'm held a prisoner of sorts till my EGTs show 400. I've tried cycling the shifter to drive, first, reverse, neutral, whatever then back into park, no good. However if I turn the key off and right back on...it's fine. I suspect a sensor or a plate or something. Has anyone found a way to remove the STUPID BACKUP ALARM "UPGRADE" yet? Please?

My friends boss's 04 or so ctd was parked in a little parking lot while he was doing something an it popped in to reverse backed across the road and hit some1's house. So there has been instances of it actually popping in to reverse,
