Question DTCs for my 03 cummins already!

Hi guys. I need some help. This is my first diesel truck so my learning curve is REALLY steep. I just checked for codes and found two: P0483 (FAn Speed) and P0234 (turbocharger boost limit exceeded). Does the 0234 mean my turbo is gone or going? Does the 0483 mean the fan isn't fast enough? ( i have noticed my truck is running a few degrees warmer) Please help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a check engine light or did you just randomly check the codes?

The fan clutch might be going out, but give it a little time and see what's going on.

The 0234 overboost is nothing to worry about. It happens.

Your truck may have had a chip on it, and no it only has a "boost elbow" so that the wastegate is defeated, but there is not a "chip" to keep the ECM from seeing the high boost.
or, the WG is stuck, lol. Apply shop air to the WG "air hose" on the front of teh turbo, no more than 25PSI and see if the rod moves back. By applying and releasing pressure, you should see the rod move back and forth.
If that "air hose" on teh fron of the turbo has a Worm gear clamp then it probably has a boost elbow. If it is a fancy factory one time use clamp, then it probly does not have a aftermarket boost elbow.
