Man, I'm a total newb and just trying to help.
If you've not already had this addressed, here's what I know.
I took my new '08 6.7 in to the dealer today to enable the high idle feature.
Tech spends an hour updating the ecu. They tried to tell me that the 6.7 doesn't have the high idle feature...only the 5.9's. I called BS and pulled out the manual. Once they saw it, the tech opened his laptop and got back into the system. I noticed a tab called *enable/disable*. I asked him to click on that tab. Once he did it, voila...PTO High Idle enable/disable pops up. Two seconds later, it was enabled on my truck. We tested and it works perfectly.

I'm assuming that you're talking about the method to bump your idle with the cruise control, right?

No, on the 98.5-02's do not have that kind of high idle.

jadog, did they say what they thought might be the problem? I don't see why they wouldn't be able to just reflash the entire ECM...but I sappose they'd charge you for that...

This was mentioned in a post yesterday concerning the high idle on these trucks. It does exist. I thought I had read here before there was none. I thank whoever it was that posted that thread yesterday.

I read somewhere that the manual transmission trucks dont have the high idle?? Does anyone know if this is correct? Guess they are afraid someone will forget to apply the parking brake and let there truck roll off!!

All the new ones have it but you have to ground a wire on the manuals for it to work

Well first of all you need to make sure you have the flash.

If you do, it idles up on its own when it needs to. There is no manual control.

I had it enabled when I bought mine new...then went to the dealer for that alternator thing and he disconnected it. I haven't re done it as the truck seems to idle up on it's own anyway and the mecheanic said not to leave it idling for more than a few minutes with the common rail system so that's where i'm at on that one... do miss the feature though.
