Engine cuts out

I have an 04 5.9. On days when it is warm and I am pulling with my truck, the engine will just cut out when I am going down the road. Took it to a buddy who scanned it and said it came up as a fuel shutoff or fuel relay. He has heard of it and that when the relay gets hot it shorts out. The problem is I live a ways from the dealer, and by the time I get it up to them, the service engine light is off. They say it is nothingand there are no codes. My buddy says it should still be readable. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm not sure on the service side of the pump and diagnosing it, but there is a Fuel Control Actuator on the fuel pump that Cummins sells as a replaceable part.

Not sure if that is your problem or what Dodge put on as far as relays.

The Actuator is a fairly common replacement from what I've seen on these from the Cummins side.
