Does it go into OD?

Sounds like you may need to reset your TV cable. Thats the first thing to check.

ive been having a lot of problems with my transmission, between 3rd, 4th, and OD it will buck and jump the gears, and shift from 3rd to OD in about 2 seconds. I ended up calling Car Talk, and they said with the newer auto's they are shift controlled by a computer, and that it might not be anything to worry about. Did you try hooking up a computer and seeing if you could change the shifts? like with a tuner?

I had this same problem with my 96 which ended up with a rebuild,
Take to a GOOD tranny person, have them drop the pan and check the filter, and have them check the TPS near the filter, that is what creates this "hold" between gears.
If they rebuild your tranny MAKE SURE they do the update CORRECT the first time.
The planetaries or bands as they may call them for that model are no longer available so they have to be updated, DO NOT let them put a larger Planetary that the OLD update calls for, it WILL NOT work with the gear ratio on your rear end and cause the same problem and the rebuild is money spent for nothing.
This is the worst case scenerio, You may just need a throttle position sensor (TPS) about 300 bucks plus labor, Lesson learned the hard way...... if you have to change the TPS in the tranny you might as well do a rebuild, depending on your tranny mech, you are looking at about 2100-2500 bucks and depending on how busy he is a week in the shop.

I am hoping that is not your problem for your sake, BUT like I said take it to a GOOD tranny mech.
