Help with 97 12v

Hey guys im new to the deisel community and just bought a 97 2500 auto. 12v cummins! and love it.i just put some stacks on it and am lookin for some cheap ways to upgrade my horsepower and make it blow a little smoke.I've heard all u need is a little house hold tools and u can make a 12v generate some serious horsepower please feel free to give any suggestions.What is the best thing to buy first to make some hp.

First thing you should do is get some guages! Mainly EGT and boost, but being an auto i would do a trans also. Then I would slide your plate forward and turn the star wheel and see what you think. After that you may want to start thinkin about a tranny cause thats right about the mods i had when i lost my auto. Boost elbo will also be a good one for ya!

buy a set of gauges first then i would start with a fuel plate( you can cut one yourself), and some injectors. but before i went to wild i would upgrade the tranny
