Post 6.7L Recall.......Emissions Recall #G30

Emissions Recall G30 to replace oxygen sensor module and reprogram ECM.

2007-2008 Models (DH/D1) Dodge Ram 2500/3500 Pick Up Truck
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine ("A" in the 8th VIN position) built throught August 20, 2007 (MDH 082019).

Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service on these vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.

SUBJECT: The On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system on about 74,000 of the above vehicles may not detect a failed oxygen sensor or illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Light as required. In addition, the OBD system many cause theses trucks to fail an Inspection Maintenance (Readiness) test, and not store mileage as required for certain transmission faults.
REPAIR: The Oxygen Sensor Module must be replaced and the Engine Control Module (ECM) must be reprogrammed (flashed).

NOTE: The new software will also improve vehicle driveabliity and reduce the potential for exhaust soot accumulation in the vehicle's particulate filter.

Gotta wonder if the recall is not more about this than the O2 sensor..

Just had it done on my truck today, It definitely had issues, coughing and drop out before . Hopefully this will resolve them.
What kinda of mileage is anyone getting on this engine?

When you guys take your trucks in for these recalls do you take off your programmers? I just installed an edge w/monitor and not sure what all I need to remove if any?

May be a dumb question, I am new to the whole programmer thing!!!

The dealer may report your truck and void the warranty if they find a programer or evidence or a programer. I would remove it before you take your truck in for service.

Tenspeed59, Was wondering how long this problem been out? Purchased my 6.7l 3500 on Sept.12, had first oil change in mid October with about 3000mi. I thought that was strange, should I have got at least 5k with normal driving. Dealer (Tomball Dodge in Tx) offered no answer and said nothing about checking for updated flash. I now have 5400 mi. as of today and yes the CEL came on.

G-30 Recall

Kristal
The only date that i have on the dealership copy of the recall says October 2007 and I found out that the recall was released the last of October 2007. I got my recall taken care of on 11/01/07 after learning about it.
I hope this small bit of info helps you out, and you should be recieving a letter from Diamler-Chrysler pertaining to this recall if your truck falls into the timeframe of being built THROUGH August 20, 2007 (MDH 082019), and also if your truck is equipped with a 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine.
Mark

P.S. I have yet to recieve my notification of this recall via First Class U.S. Postal Service mail as of Nov. 22, 2007.

I purchased my 6.7 Liter 3500 Ram on July 28TH. My truck was part of the recall but my notice came late after I had the truck repaired. By the way, a week later, my CEL came back on for a second 02 sensor replacement. All is ok now but beware, during this time, enough miles driven in that condition may have caused your particulate filter to be 80-90 percent used up. You need to call your dealer and ask them for a replacement particulate. It can be done while you wait. They claim that driving hwy speeds for 45 minutes will not remedy the situation.

The ONLY light that has came on so far in my truck has been the change oil light at 6700 miles. No CEL's .........not even a DPF Regen indication EVER!!!......but I do drive it at highway cruising speeds on a daily basis for 36 miles one way to my job at 70 MPH....which I believe is why I haven't had the DPF Regen problems that others have experienced.

6.7 Cel

My son Purchased a 2007 2500 with the 6.7 Turbo Diesel and it has been in and out of the Shop on a Regular Basis for the CEL

Dealer Replaced the Turbo several Weeks Ago and within (2) weeks . . .CEL on again.

Went Back in and was told that they forgot to Clear something.

Has been ok for several weeks until last Sunday Night . . .CEL on again.

He doesn't do Much (If Any) Highway Miles.

Has anyone else had a Constant CEL / Turbo Problem?

Thank you

I took my truck into the dealer today and they determined that highway driving had cleared my particulate filter so no replacement was necessary. This was after the 02 had been out for quite some time.
