07 steering freeplay

I have a new 07 2500 4X4 long bed that has 1/2 inch of free play l & Rof center. With the steering wheel in the center moving down the freeway the freeplay is 1/2 inch left or right of the center position(1 inch total). I am continously correcting as you would in an old vehicle with worn gears in the steering gearbox. I have taken the truck back to the dealer twice and they said they adjusted the gearbox, but I have the same freeplay. I drove my cousins new truck(same model) for 200 miles to do a comparison and his is tight with no freeplay. Back to the dealer tomorrow. Any one have similar steering problems? Thanks

Nope, mine is as tight as it is supposed to be. One of the reasons I bought the Dodge over the GM. You may have a bad gear, its happened before, but rare.

I had the same problem with mine. The dealership tried to tell me that they compared it with other dodges on the lot and they were all the same. I had to take it back to them a second time before they finally replaced the steering gear. That was a month ago and when I had it checked out at the off road place they said the new steering gear was starting to get som play in it. Good luck with it. If you get a permanent fix let me know what it was so I can have it done also.
