The TSB's listed on this site helped me with a service department that couldn't figure out an issue on my new rig... First time I told them, Today I showed them... They flashed the computer chip and the issue seems to be resolved... Thanks & keep up the great work.

Lightbulb Welcome Josh

Welcome to the forums Josh. We can be a little demanding at times but it is all done in a spirit of learning.

I am hoping you may be able to help me out with some DPF questions. Do you have access to any DPF/ECM literature concerning the 07/08 6.7s?

Specifically, I am looking to understand how the ECM knows when it is time to regen and what signals are used (ie. EGT temps, pressure differences fm the hard lines? )

Dodge must have tech training resources that deal with these?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Cheers,

Chris

This is my first post. Hope I do it correctly. I have a 94 Dodge cummins 12 V manual transmission, 4 wheel drive in a 3500 Cab Chassis. I'm having trouble with the Auto Shutdown Solenoid. I have a good background in automotive electronics, gas fuel systems,
and most general functions of any type of engine. I'm new to diesels though and I can't figure out exactly what the solenoid acts on. I see where it attachs to a lever and assume the lever operates a butterfly valve inside. I have the factory service manual and the Powertrain Diagnostic Procedures for the 94-95 Cummins Diesel. My dealer wants $450.00 for a new solenoid, but I seen them on Ebay for $150.00. I have a background in Mechanical Engineering and Machining, so I feel like if I can understand what the solenoid is actually operating, I'll develop another method to accomplish the same thing. Oh, and I know unlike a gas engine when you turn the switch off you can't just cut the electricity to a diesel engine. It works off of the "Heat of Compression" not a spark.
Thanks,
Ron
