Death Wobble

So I just replaced Sway Bar End Links, Track Bar, Steering Stabilizer, and got the new heavy duty steering kit from Dodge. Now I can't drive over 50 mph without having the wheel ripped out of my hand the front end slamming all over the place. I rotated the tires about a week ago and feel that they need to be re-balanced, I also desperately need to get my alignment done. Anyone have any ideas?

I think I am going to need to replace the upper ball joints because after lifting they couldn't possibly be at the correct angles...Could they?

If any of you guys have experienced this or have knowledge in this field could chime in I would really appreciate it. I need to be able to get on the freeway! Thanks in advance...

Get an alignment and go from there. Make sure stuff is tighten down especially the trac bar (really tight). You can check for ball joint play by lifting the front wheels off the ground by the pumpkin and push up and down at 12 & 6 o'clock on each tire. Should have no more than a tad of play.

The new Dodge steering is supposed to be the cure for death wobble. So I think something is just coming loose.

I have had mine in the shop twice for the wobble and about to put it back in again. I have a 2" leveling kit and the dealer is going to remove it, saying that it may be causing the problem, i call BS on that. Anyone else out there with a 07 or 08 with the wobble problem? Dealer told me that they have had NO 07and 08's with the problem. I told them I was going to post and see if i can turn up others with the problem.

Well, did you have the wobble before you installed the leveling kit? I hear of a lot of people having the wobble after installing a spacer type leveling kit. Did you check you track bar for looseness or bushing wear? Do a good search on here. You will find plenty of info on death wobble and different cures.

Check the bolts on the power stering pump. they could be ever so slightly loose. Also check out the bd sterring support. I put one on my truck and could diff. tell the difference.

So looks like I need to have my steering box rebuilt. There is 1.5 in. of wheel play in the steering.

I have the HBS 2" leveling kit on mine and I have had absolutely no problems. I drove it for about 1500 miles before I have the alignment checked. When I took it in to have the alignment checked the toe was out a little but not much at all. Everything else was still good.

another thing i have found that was a preventable death wobble with leveling kits/ lift kits is if you replace the shocks they need to be a high pressure gas style not oil filled like you find free with most lift kits.

One of my company trucks had been having trouble with the death wobble. We took it in to the dealer last week and they replaced the entire tie rod arms, ends, and had it aligned. The driver had been getting the death wobble three times each direction on one particular 110 mile (one way) trip. No problems since!

If I want to buy the new steering from my dealer - does anyone have a part number or Dodge's "official" name for this replacement system? It replaced the drag link and both tie rod ends, correct?
