pin top 2.5 system from carli is in my future
Okay im really considering the carli pin top system in the near future. Seems like the best bang for the buck they offer from what i can tell. My question is how hard is it going to be to install? Im pretty well rounded with nuts and bolts ive done everything from dropping trannys to rebuilding motors. I dont consider myself a welder by any means though. Am i going to have to do any welding with this? How much modification to the truck if any is this kit going to require? Also wondering if this system will take care of any "death wobble" symptoms that may or may not occur in the future. Im thinking about running 35's on 20's possibly 13.50 wide...for some reason i like the tires sticking out look. Never been one to cheap out on anything. Just dont want to spend a yearly salary on suspension components... Carli seems like they make a decent product. they sure as hell make it look pretty on their website anyway... ![]() Thanks, Nick

No welding except for the the limit strap lower mount (frame) if you get that option. This is a great choice and the install should be very straight forward. Your setup will blow your stock suspension out of the water. Now you can build off of this lift down the road i.e. control arms, full leafs King 3inch bomber shocks, billet shock tower etc. All you need is a second set of hands a good jack and some beefy jack stands. Impact gun and some wrenches and you are set! One other thing is to make sure that you go back nd put a wrench on everything after a couple hundred miles or so!

If you don't have the equipment for welding you can still put the whole kit on in your driveway. Then take it to someone to do the small amount of welding that is required for the limit strap tabs. Depending on the backspace on the rims you are looking at, you may need to add control arms to your wish list to avoid rubbing the back on the fenders.

Yeah without control arms you rub the fenders off with 13.50 wide wheels. You need like a 9" wide wheel with like a 5" backspacing. Thats what i run Motometal 20x9 with a 5.71 bs with no rub. I know with CAs you can run 37"s with the right backspacing but not sure how wide you can go if you get the CAs and 35's here is my truck with the starter kit. Carli Starter Kit with 20"s installed finally

im thinking about going with mickey thompson classic 2's in 20's...not sure which tire to go with though...id like somthing thatll perform in the snow/mud but isnt going to wine like hell like the bfg mud terrains i had on my last truck...any suggestions? The truck also gets used for some light to medium towing (i.e. car trailer) and ive heard mud terrains arent the best for towing. haha

Those rims are actually not too bad. They are 9" wide with a 5" backspace. If you plan to run 35x13.5 Toyos you may still hit the fender as those are bigger/wider than most 35's.

Mild Steel Arms= $750 Chromoly Arms= $900 or $950 W/ the Carli Suspension you want, go w/ the mild steel arms. The install is pretty straight up w/ the right tools (jack, stands & required size wrench/sockets) & a buddy to help. Personally I would stick to a 17" wheel ( 5.5"-6" of BS & no wider than 9") & a 35"/37" tire. Especially if your going off road, more tire sidewall & flex= better ride, even on road.
