Marco said it was suppose to reduce smoke..... Hes figured out that the smoking problem for the most part is for the 04.5 manuals. He said he thinks he found out the problem but from what I read over there it still smokes alot but EGTs have gone down more. BUT from what I could tell most of the beta testers are autos not manuals.....

yup most of us are autos. some reduction in smoke but still alot if you lug it at ALL under 1800 RPM. and if you go WOT at 30-40 MPH. He is trying to lean out the mix at low boost.. I will update after I try the next Beta.

I don't remember much smoke without SJ. But I don't lug it much anyway.

Mine smokes a nice bit at low RPMs, but doesnt really bother me. I know smoke isnt good but mine doesnt smoke that much to worry about. It is nice at times to be able to roll a little coal.

Thats why i don't really see him making much progress, Basically if you drive the truck normal its gonna smoke because during a shift its always below 1800 unless you run it up to like 2500rpm, which is crappy for fuel economy. I think there should have been more testing or they shouldn't advertise as no smoke or almost no smoke, when clearly it smokes quite a bit.

Well I think it is STILL a great product, and Marco seems intent on perfecting it. Not ALL trucks have the smoke issue and the fact that he is willing to spend time and effort to address the smoke when it is just a few trucks says much about his integrity

I will smoke WAY more than at stock on the 70HP tune. I don't get off on smoke like alot of guys do, but it doesn't bother me either. Like you guys say, it will smoke from low RPM. I actually covered a buddy's truck while he was following me from our shop today

The thing that concerns me is all the timing rattle I get. I was told not to worry about it, but it is so much worse than the stock tune. I expected a little rattle of course, but not like this.

Why would some guys get so much rattle and others not much at all? It seems strange.

I like the JR and the mileage is increasing alot since the weather is warming up. I'm already getting better than I did last summer. I'm happy about that for sure.:thumbsup

Its still a fine product, Im not saying its junk. Just saying they didn't quite advertise it like they should. Also if they would have did testing on various trucks they would have found that it does smoke. I think they are far more truck that are smoking than not. we'll wait and see what marco can come up with. I'd like to see less smoke, I don't want to cover the front of our camper in soot. Keep us posted Marco or Bob...

Jr setting 2 (towing) safe for Stock 2003 6 spd?

Hi Guys, just installing my Jr for a cross continent trip, 2003 6 speed dually, all stock. Hauling truck camper and towing small trailer and want to ensure I don't fry anything...so the question is;

as all is stock, is it best to leave it at Stage 1 (economy) or can I go to Stage 2 Towing safely?

Thanks for all the earlier comments as it helped me decide on SMARTY Jr.

MIke
