There is a guy on Mississauga RD selling fuel tanks you could store the fuel in there.

They say why they are not going to sell it this summer when I wana try it?

Dave.
Hey Dave, I think with how cheap regular diesel is, its costing them about the same if not more to stock(I know that sounds wierd eh), that coupled with a bad batch did it in. I'll get the official word next time I'm there tho.

As for brewing it, I've done a lot of research on it and think I could do it. Problem is it takes a lot of time, there is waste, and with the price of fuel down(with no signs of jumping) not sure its worth the time and effort. I think I will be going the 2 stroke route come spring time tho.

Does anyone know what time of year they start selling blended diesel for winter use in Southern Ontario?

Thanks Grassman, Though I am not sure there is a direct relationship between the grid heaters and the sale of blended fuel. My grid heaters will come on during a cold morning in July.

Really are you sure? I heard from a friend who works at a refinery that when he gets into his diesel truck and the grid heater/ plugs come on they start adding kerosene to the diesel fuel.

Must be a 09 think or where you live you must have cold July mornings mine have never gone on in July.

But back on topic why is it that you are curious about when they add it?

I was thinking myself I was going to get my off road tank filled with clear diesel and treat it myself not with kerosene.

I was going to use power service or power diesel by sylvite fuels which i currently run in my truck but see no increased millage.

I am curious about when they add it because milage is not as good with winter blend. My truck is cursed with a DPF that will likely plug if I use additives that add smoke to the exhaust. I only get 16 yo 18 miles to the gallon on the highway and that drops to 11 to 13 when in regen on the evic.

the grid heater only comes on when the outside temp reaches a temp of something like 10deg.....no matter what fuel is in the tank

#1 Fuel has a lower BTU rating compared to #2. #1 is roughly 19,583 BTU/LB....where as #2 is about 19,855 BTU/LB. That doesn't seem like much, but when you start getting into power/efficiency of the engine between the two fuels, you can tell the difference. Basically #1 is less efficient than #2, reason you will notice a decrease in power and fuel mileage

And yes, as Graphic Man mentioned...gird heaters or glow plugs don't care what fuel is being run through the system. They are programmed to come on at a certain ambient temperature.
