DZ Licence.
Looking to obtain my license. Can I own and drive a truck with Air Brakes the GVWR is (31'000 lbs) I believe and de rate it so I can use my G but just get my "Z" endorsement. I'm thinking of doing it that way drive it for a bit get used to it fly low and then go for the test. I duno. The test centers are on strike and I imagine there will be a backlog of drivers that want to get tested. I want to or need my license for winter as I'm looking at possibly picking up a International 4900 dump truck. I don't want to go work for a bus company to get my license that way. Dave.

Yea I have a friend that works for Canada Cartage with AZ I think. I still need to take a test for the Z even if I just write the test. Most of those Ryder and penske trucks have air don't they or are they juice? If I show up in a truck with air they are going to make me do the test on that. on the MTO web site they tell you to bring a ruler measuring tape and hard hat. *LOL* I thought I was going to be tested on how to drive a truck and not frame a house.

Some don't have air. Call around. The biggest think during your test is your circle check. Air isn't that big of a deal. Just make sure you know the size of your brake chambers and stroke.
