NC Insepections??

I keep hearing that the NC vehicle inspections are going to start requiring your exhaust to be checked (AKA the sniffer up the tail pipe). Just wondering if any other county has got this or not yet. I live in ashe and was thinking about doing a dpf delete on my 6.7 but not if I just haft to put it back on next year. Thanks for the help.

T.young,
We wont have inspections in watauga and ashe in the near future (6 years plus).
For the most part you wont have any problems, If you need a good place, stop out at the tire store next to warrensville fire dept.

Just remember, If it came factory, By law, EVEN saftey inspections require it!

In the near future NC inspections will no longer be a sticker on the window but will be going to the tag. I just got my new tag in and they look fake. They are no longer punched out numbers! It is weird. I decided I was going to switch to a custom tag, "NCcumins", and then they made the tags look really bad so that sucked...

As far as having a problem with the delete, I think you will be fine!

OK fellas. Not trying to step on any toes, but I talked to one of my sources and the only exhaust emmisions on a diesel is a cat if it is equiped. The muffler of course is to muffle the sound. The G.S or what ever it is says if the exhaust has any holes in it. Most mechs are going to pass you with flying colors. You will bw fine. Just don't go to a big city to get it done, they tend to be pr#cks.

What about 6.0L with EGR? What about a 6.7L with EGR ?
6.6L Duramax with egr?

The problem is not the owner of the truck getting it to pass. It's what they do to us if they catch us passing one.

They CAN however put a DB meter on the truck if the town has an ordinance but thats the only downside to the owner.

According to the way the law is written, The exhaust system can be turned down at IF the inspector chooses to do so. Most likely it wont happen but the INSPECTOR TAKES THE RISK. Licsense and theft can see me inspect a truck with an aftermarket system or a truck with stacks and fine me for it...Is it right according to the law...Well NO not really but it's all in how that officer preceives the law!

I was talking about pre egrs and dpfs. For those who were wondering. Sorry that I did not specify. Most people posting on this tread have 5.9s and well, most guys on here are not driving ferds and D-maxs.
