Self Inspection Law In NJ

Ok 6 months ago i reregistered my truck for 10,001 lbs so that i fall under the self inspection rule. i went to my local dmv for the info and got it. (6 months ago)

so 2 days ago i got pulled over for no sticker and got a ticket for no inspection. The cop didnt believe anything i told him about the diesel inspection.

Any diesel truck between 10,001 - 17,999 lbs is exempt from inspection. if regestered for the above weight class.

so yesterday i went to 3 dmv's and called 1888 nj motor and no one knows anything about this law. expcet the inspection station. They did but it is just a piece of paper telling you about the guidelines. do you think this will be enough to fight it in court?

Does anyone have any more info on this law?

Possibly the Law Number (if thats what you call it)

Thank you

google that sh!t!!! If it's a law then you can't really loose....might want to throw a little extra weight in that thing if it does go to court and you gotta get it weighed.

Print yourself out a copy of this and keep it in your truck.

" Diesel vehicles 10,000 lbs and up to 17,999 lbs require a self-inspection and should not be inspected by a Private Inspection Facility. "

I am a Police Officer, in New Jersey, and you should NOT have gotten a ticket. The State of New Jersey Administrative Code 13 states exactly, word for word, what page 73 of the pdf file that harvey4804 posted.
The page that I have does not list a specific statute number in the Administrative Code but list at the bottom "Should you have further questions, please contact us again at 1-888-NJ-MOTOR.
Sorry about your ticket, I know the inspection ones are not cheap, obviously was written by a young and/or none knowledgeable officer.

LOL, I run into unknowlegdable DOT/POLICE quite a bit between myself or my drivers, its funny how they say your doing everything illegal, then they go get the SGT to say your free to go!!! It always cracks me up, makes yah wonder how they even passed the academy

Here in Va you can register your truck that high and not need an emissions inspection but then your personal property tax on the vehicle pretty much doubles.....
