and you really dont want to go over 17,999 becuase over that you need emissions. and most of us wont pass.

yea the cop was just lookin to break my balls. that kind of pisses me off.

Thanks everyone for all this. this should be enought to win this in court

Hey DieselRiot, you may wan to find a "inspection check list" that a commercial guy uses and pencil whip that thing to a date before you got the ticket. Just in case you get some liberal tree hugger judge that wants to see proof that you actually inspected the vehicle your self. Let us know how it turns out.

I just registered my truck yesterday. According to the DMV (in flemington) not only do you have to register it for over 10,000, the sticker in the door must be over 10,000 for it to qualify as self-inspect. Even if its registered commercially. They said that "everyone would register their diesels for 10,000 if it would get them around inspection."

i work for the dmv inspection station and it goes by gvwr of the truck you cant just reg the truck at what ever weight you want

you have to keep a log of all work done to the truck

diesel powered cars/trucks dont get emission test anyway all it is safety and brakes ( lights horn wipers glass etc )

How about visual inspection. Do they look for all the junk under the truck?
