looking for advice in the Las Vegas area

I am a snow bird & I got a 97 2500 2wheel drive auto about 6 weeks ago when I was back in Michigan , when I was pulling my tt here I seemed to have a loss of power . I made a appointment with Diesel Specialist a shop north of town , has anyone been to this shop & do they do good work ? also looking to put a few upgrades in the truck , just to help it when it is towing my tt , I would like to increase the HP about 50 to 75 HP but I would like to keep the MPG reasonable . I also would like to get some body work done on the truck it has 2 little places were the paint is bubbling because of rust & I would like to have the truck painted , the main issue is to get it running good & then do the body work .

I used them for installing my tranny, they seem to know what there doing. The price tag was a little on the heavy side. I know I asked them to quote me a price for installing a gauge that I would provide, and he told me 400.00 I asked why so high and he responded that since he wasn't supplying the gauge that he couldn't make any money, so I did it myself. For straight diesel engine work there's J & S diesel on Industrial.(non high performance)

Thanks for the info ! I made the appointment with Diesel Specialist for Tuesday , I am going to have them change the fuel filter & clean the fuel screen & check the boost on the turbo to see if there are any leaks in the turbo system . Is Diesel Specialist the only diesel performance shop in the Las Vegas area ?

Diesel Dynamics doesn't deal with the public anymore, strictly development and research now....

I am a newbie so I dont know alot but after spending some time on this site I can see how much the shops are gouging you !!! Diesel Specialist seemed like they were a little on the steep side !! I dont know but I had them put in a new fuel filter & clean the fuel sceen & check the turbo & it cost $130 . Is the Fuel Filter a cartridge filter or a spin on filter like a oil filter ? because if it is a spin on I still have the dodge filter that looks 10 years old .

We have an 03 f250 that became our customer... he took his truck to DS and was quoted 6k and was billed over 9k when work was done. His truck was being held hostage...

DS charged me around $1300 to remove and breakdown my old tranny, they found the input shaft was sheared off, I ordered a built Goerend tranny and they installed it. The truck had to sit in there shop for close to a month while we waited for the new tranny to come in. I didn't think it was to bad, I now go to another shop and there shop rate is $90/hr.

$1300 was the total with built tranny installed taxes included. I'm not sure if where I go now will do trasmissions but you can call them and ask. J & S Diesel Service. Let me know if you need the number and I will PM you. I'm not sure if posting the rest is allowed.
