Deer hunt SUCCESSFUL!!

Well,,,,There were 3 of us that applied as a group and we drew tags for area 10. We hunted unit 102 and filled all three tags!! Mine was just a 4 point that weighed in at 124 pounds dressed out and no legs below the knee. 1 of my friends shot the 8 point that weighed in at 123 pounds and my 3rd friend shot a spike with 2 points (LOL!) on the last day out of desperation. His weighed in at 67 pounds. Here are some pics. P.S.= This is the Ruby Mountains area.
Enjoy!!

With all due respect, man, those look like small deer!! Are they whitetails?? I saw some does while out bowhunting tonite, that looked bigger than those. We have alot different habitat here though, corn and bean fields, makes for fat deer. You got one already though, which is more than I can say at this point. Were you bowhunting or rifle??

Thanks guys!! Kevlars,,,,These are desert Mule deer not Whitetails. They eat sage. I lived up in northern New York near the Adirondack mountains. The Whitetail deer were from the 160's to well over 200 pounds. These Mule deer average from 120's to over 200 as well at very high elevations. I'm not much of a hiker anymore nor am I a trophy hunter. What I did accomplish was meat on the table. By the way,,,It was rifle season. I used my Ruger M77 Mark 2 in .223. I had my .06 with me but not at the time the deer presented itself.

Hey calebs,,,thanks!! It was cold and snowy at one point. It melted a couple of days later and created tons of mud. That was fun too. LOL

Hey Fletch,

I have the same gun, I use it for coyotes, and other varmints. Rifles aren't legal in Illinois for deer. The whitetail I got last year, went about 160 pounds field dressed. Not huge but pretty good for my first deer.

I read that and figured you were from back east, calling a forked horn a four point, and the four point a 8 point, most westerners call them by one side, not counting the eye guards, and in the case the sides are different (4x5) they are just called 4x5. Dont take me wrong, hunters are hunters and all are welcome, and I dont mean anything bad by it. I like the Ruby area, I grew up in Battle Mountain and love that area. I didnt get any tags 3 years in a row. Congrats on the kills.
