mileage

2005 dually big horn 11,800 miles 12.9-13.2 miles per gallon empty, is
this pretty common? I am scheduled for oil change & servive
next week was wondering if I should mention this lack of mileage, by the
way I purchased my truck at Carson Dodge & have had great service
just a little curious about mileage & uncomfortable seats.

Give the motor time to break in. Is this you first diesel? this trucks need to be worked. I average 15 to 16 period and I have 71000 on mine. my last diesel averaged 12 to 14 and I put 185000 on that one.

mileage

I had a psd but went through 4 injector relays + other injectors,
3 heavy duty sets of batteries, 2 block heaters in 86,000 miles, 13-15 mpg,
so far I have not been fortunate enough to get those high miles, I pull a
gn stock trailer, 14' hd dump trailer, 20' flatbed trailer, get about
same mileage, I would guess maybe slow down headin to Utah or Montana.

I agree, slow down. I ran a little over 75mph from Idaho Falls to Missoula and got 11.7 hand calculated, empty. When I keep it at 65mph I get 16-17mpg, empty. When I'm in Oregon were the speed limit is 55mph I can get around 15mpg pulling my trailer(48' wedge).
