I remember, heard it for two years straight. The funny thing is that no one really listens, until we get on I70 and head back home the whole road from the fairgrounds to the onramp is a smoke fest. We usually eat lunch during the break at the Golden Corral next door (mmmm that banana pudding is so good) and we can look out and all you see is diesels blowing smoke.

After reading your post it gives me a different way of looking at the trash issue. I can see how they should have people cleanin up the IRP grounds, that's what they get paid to do. But it's a different story at the hotels and th warehouses. People should clean up after themselves no matter where they are, but at the hotels and warehouses there is no excuse for littering.

People shouldn't litter, I agree with that. Actually scheid has tamed quite a bit, the first year we went it was really bad, smokin tires and smoke everywhere. The last two years you still see some smoke, but nothing like the previous years. I think I have went the last 4 years.

I had a great time. Even got pulled over after a burnout!!! Mrs Spicy helped me out with that one.

People should definetely pick up after themselves at the hotels and the warehouses.

I thought the event was alright. Seemed to lag a little bit at certain times and it seemed the CEO was doing a little more schmoozing than commentating. We should all give Moody, Alabamas own Timbeaux a round of applause for his announcing skills while he was there. But it sure would be nice to know who is who during the pull and drag racing when the Dr. P. truck is not running. I mean for Christ's sake Jimmy Smith ran a 9.98 in a four wheel drive!!!

Sorry for the rant. It was good seein everybody. We will do it again next year.

im with travis on the announcing, I made 7 passes racing. and ended up wining the quick diesel class, and only herd my name once, at the end. Not that i really care for every one to know me, but it helps the people who are watching for you to know when your up. i mean Spicyjam who helps alot on my truck and knows it very well couldnt tell who was up till we went past him in the stands.

Good job calling it over the whole event but there is room for improvement.

I agree. I only knew a select few trucks, obviously the bigger/quicker names, and my buddy Josh Schmitt (the youngest driver) with the white quad cab and blueish/purplish flames on the front. They had some trans problems which kept him from qualifying, but he's run a 10.2 in it at IRP about 10 days prior.

I chose to sit in the "cheap seats" north of the main grandstand, and that was my concern - no PA system to tell us what was going on, about the trucks, or anything. I walked into the pit area and watched from the other side and could hear better - some guys had it coming over the radio in their truck it sounded like.

Like most said...the litter at IRP should be handled by the facility and local police, as well as lewd and obnoxious behavior.

The reality is that Plainfield did pretty well, litter and all, with all of us down there. I mean, come on, for the police to stand there and watch us drinking and watching what is considered "reckless" driving (at least in Michigan and I'm sure in Indiana) was incredible to me. A tragedy was SO possible with some of the trucks driving like they didn't know what they were doing with people all lining the lot. If they ran us off and/or wrote a bunch of tickets, we'd head to another suburb or small town in the area. No, I don't like stupid behavior, but for a few days Plainfield and its merchants had a little extra noise, smoke, drinking, and LOTS OF $$$. Don't feel so sorry for them. Shoot, my CRAPPY AS CAN BE Ramdan Inn (spelling error on purpose) charged me $90 for a room that is normally around $50. I complained about my A/C and TV not working and got a big $20 refund!!

It was a sad hotel but at least it was civil throughout the night. I think I got away with paying $60 a night.

Who had the white qc/lb that was loud as heck, I think he won the burnout competition too....he needs a better system, it doesn't sound very good for a CR.
That would be me. I just have 5 in. straight pipe from the downpipe and I agree it sounds funny. Got any suggestions to get rid of the pingy sound without making it much quieter? I went from 4 to 5 in cause 4 in sounded still worse and this still doesn't sound quite right but I haven't had time to mess with it.

Yeah I don't know, perhaps a downpipe change? I've never heard a CR sound like that. Maybe it is just your truck. It seems like there are so may different sounds to the CR's. My buddy has an 03 that sounds a lot different than my 03. A lot of the newer trucks sound different too, seems like they have more of a raspy sound sometimes. Anyway, yours is LOUD though!!! You were probably a good 75 feet away before the noise wasn't deafening anymore. Great job on the burnout competition! Truck looks real good on the wheels/tires.

Yeah, I kinda did my own thing down there (RE: Indianpolis thread). Regret it now, but I still had a lot of fun.
