Fixed it for you. Just be warned. You're buying a stunt bike that's been trashed. Things are going to be broken. The clutch is probably toast. The bottom end clearances are loose now from oil starvation. And all the other stress issues on the bike. I own a fleet of bikes. (8) I'd never buy a stunted bike again. Especially if you want it to be a daily rider. Sure I'd buy one to trash if I were into that. But I commute ~100 miles a day on a bike. I want something that will get me there and back. Just something to consider.

Check out craigslist for local deals. Ebay for all over, but be certain of what you're getting. And look around for local motorcycle boards. Check out wera and a few other race orgs, they'll be a streetable bike for sale there from time to time.

what he said... you can get a hundred commuter bikes for that price range but it all depends on what you want out of it.

I have a R6 that is my retired race bike and I can't stand to commute on it but it is fun to play with when I get to go back to the track so I keep it around. I bought a scooter recently to ride back and forth to work and it saves me $7.52 a day vs. driving the truck. Kinda makes it worth it if you ask me.

If you don't need the biggest and baddest you will be set with that price range. If it is an in town commuter I would look for something like a SV650 or another twin. The grunt of the twin makes city life easier and less changing gears. KLR650 is cheap and an all arounder...

Just some thoughts...

bigger uses more fuel
it sucks to replace plastics when the soccer mom backs into your ride at the store
you can only go so fast in town
Storage space is a premium on some newer sportbikes, look for something that you can mount luggage or a trunk to. Backpacks are nice but they get to be uncomfortable after they become over stuffed or if they are too heavy.
