I'd send a message to Chris Snyder. He's gone through more 5spds than anyone I know.

There is a company down in Zumbrota (sp?) There specialty is NV4500's from what I'm told. There price isn't to bad. I went with a company out of TN. Cost was about 1250 with a 24/24 warranty.

Actually their specialty is lying and cheating the customer. I ONCE bought a tranny from them because it was cold and I was in no mood to rebuild one. They explained to me their rebuild process over the phone which included all new syncros, bearings, any gears showing wear are replaced, blah blah blah. So the first week of Nov I installed one of their "awesome rebuilds" for the tune of 1500.00. By the first week in May I had already taken it back out and had them rebuild it FIVE times! The fourth failure only lasted in my 350 HP truck for 875 miles. After the 2nd failure I bought a second truck for a backup because at the time I was running a hotshot trucking business and couldnt afford all the down time I was having. So after the fourth failure I payed 650 bucks out of pocket to have my trans shipped to a VERY well known trans specialist for the NV4500's and his prognosis was that the trans had at least 400,000 miles on it but had recently had ONLY new 3rd gear syncros in it and a fresh paint coat. Then I told this well known trans specialist about what I was going thru with this trans shop and he wrote me a certified letter to take to them when he shipped back the trans. I loaded it back into my truck and drove it to Zumbrota and dropped my tailgate in their parking lot and backed up fast enough for it to slide out and hit the side of their building. The owner came out screaming blah blah and threatening to sue me etc and he wasnt going to rebuild nothing for me and on and on and then I calmly walked to my truck and said I have a letter here from a trans specialist (name withheld here) showing you did nothing more than throw syncros at this Totally rebuilt 1500 dollar piece of crap and unless you completely rebuild and have it at my shop in 2 days Im going to file a lawsuit because your receipt to me says it is completely rebuilt with all new syncros, bearings, and worn gears replaced with a fully splined mainshaft (which it wasnt). He still didnt cooperate until I put my cell phone to my face and asked my attorney if the conversation was still being recorded and he confirmed it. Then he cooperated and I had my trans back in 2 days FULLY rebuilt.

Now you can feel free to order one from them and deal with it yourself but if you need a good rebuild my number is on our website.

yes he is very well known for custom/ high horse trannys. Mainly chevy racing and powerglydes. One of the smartest guys in trannys is harm of prior lake transmission. He builds quiet a few trannys for race cars at elko speedway including mine. He comes up with new ideas with improvements and thinks outside the box.
