What can a stocker handle? I have to pull my trans this weekend to fix rear main seal, and was also installing my new HTT. Do I need a new Flexplate.....or what?

The SFI approval should answer a bunch.... do you think that it is legit?

Charles, you have been around the block so what is your take? I don;t want to defame the Ebay sales guy but it's hard to see someone spend the money on SFI approval only to be 3 times cheaper than others in the same arena.

On another note, HP & TQ are not the only items to look at when studying the ability to withstand. 800 hp gradually applied Vs. TQ lock Up in first doing a Quarter Mile with the same HP are so different when it comes to shock load placed on parts.... Shock Load breaks parts.

We are going to try the thicker SFI ebay flexplate. IF i break it, we will swap it out. The vendor said hes sold over 1000 of them and they havent gotten one back yet.....who knows if this this the truth but he has a great rating on ebay. We will see. I found one for $80 plus $22 for shipping.

It comes down to what your going to do with the truck, I have yet to see a person say I'm going to do this and thats it. But when they feel that power and how it runs then they start rethinking what if I add this If you run a billet T/C and a good fueling box and injectors its not if its when is the flex plate going out. It may not be in a week or 6 months but it will someday. But its realy comes down to how you drive it.

I believe the same no need to spend good money after bad. I can believe that some of the SFI's on ebay are legit and I would run one myself. The difference is how a stock one and a SFI are made and from what metal. What I have been told they are stronger than stock and the one place told me it was thicker at the crank where they crack most of the time.

It even takes a lot to break a stock one but it happens. I have yet to see one break right after replacing with a billet T/C, it usually takes some time for it to break. Yes HP and TQ does play into this but so does how you drive it like JacktheBear stated above! Plus if you have a lock up switch and lock up the clutch under full load yes that is a heck of a shock to it. But I have run a early DTT converter non billet cover with twins, big injectors, power max drag race and an edge ez with a stock flex plate for over a year I do believe that the extra weight hanging there from the billet T/C is one of the biggest factors. But when it come down to it this is just my .02

Now your talkin..... I have put 699+ @ 1440 TQ through the same converter.... and I have over 50k miles on it. No billet cover, single disc, but so efficient hydraulically that lock up was an after thought......

By the way, I'm spooling a 14CM top turbo to a B2 bottom..... I love them old DTT hard core singles

I loved mine and Brian aka BBram has it now the trans and all. The twins were 40 HT4C bottom and Babyfat has them now. I now just play with a 99 12 valve NV5600 Dual Disk 271 t-case But then I have a 12 valve 2wd now
The HT4C had a 32mm Compressor wheel I think
