anyone apply for the USDOT #'s yet (Michigan)

Anyone applied for there USDOT #'s yet OR had any issues with NOT having them on?

I need em for my personal 6.2 1 ton dump since Ive got it plated under "LOG FARM"

and the 06 needs em since it is over the 10,001 weight when pulling the gooseneck

The letter we received from the state says:

Quote:
who must apply:
  • A vehicle having a gross weight rating or gross combination weight rating, or a gross weight or gross combination weight, of 10,001lbs or more
  • A truck eligible for and registered under a farm or manufacturer license plate that has a gross vehicle weight of 10,001lbs or more
  • A vehicle designed or used to transport more than 8 passengers (including the driver) for compensations
  • A vehicle designed or used to transport more than 15 passengers (including the driver) and is not used for compensations
  • A vehicle used in transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placarding

All USDOT numbers must be obtained prior to 01/01/08 and displayed on all qualifying vehicles prior to 01/01/09
whoops I missed the date

Ian

might as well assume anyone with a 1 ton will need them sooner or later. that sucks for those of us that use them for recreation. I am in a similiar boat with ohio laws. I need a cdl to haul my own trailer. 24k gvw. 35k combined.

haha If I had a real truck I would get a CDL! but I need bigger equipment first so then I can get a bigger truck.

I finally got my USDOT # what a bunch of crap. I talked with the officer for about a hour but he was cool and now its just a matter of finding a graphic for the vehicles

yep 3/4 will need one! if youre 10,001 and over! This was my main concern since the tow rig is a 3/4 ton so I thought I could squeeze by without doing the DOT #'s..... I was wrong so Ive got my number and just need to plaster it on the trucks

it has to be visible from 50' away

What a crock of sh!t. I personally don't want my truck covered with a ton of stickers unless they're my choice. Where'd ya have to go and how much $$ we talkin ? What if a person already has a CDL we still need 'em ?

I told Brian this was coming,it will soon be anything with dual's on the back. The wife and i are just starting to shop for a new trailer. 36-48FT gooseneck inclosed car trailer with living quators(camper) and my understanding we will have to have the DOT stickers.Just another way for the man to steal from the U.S. worker. I wish i was born a mexican,id have it made here.
