Tour of Ram Assembly Plant and Cummins Assembly Plant!!

Hey All!

The Turbo Diesel Register (TDr) is holding two great tours that all CF members are invited to if you have an interest!

We have a tour for Warren Truck Assy Plant in Warren (This plant makes the Dodge Dakota, Ram)and plus add a tour of Cummins Engine as well and you have one amazing few days!!

The schedule looks as follows for June 8-12, 2011:

Wednesday: Warren Truck: Warren, Michigan (21500 Mound Road)

The tour will be open to a small group of 100 people, and it will include MUCH more than just a tour. The schedule is as follows:

2:00-2:30 – Guests arrive and set up for a group photo in front of the plant

2:30-3:00 – Meet and Greet in auditorium, tour groups assigned (there may be some interesting things put on display in this room….)

3:00-3:30 – Tour Kickoff

3:30-4:30 – Group A – Tour
Group B – Special Presentation

4:00-4:45 – Break time!

4:45-5:45 – Group A – Special presentation
Group B – Tour

5:45-6:00 – Break

6:00 – 8:00 – Dinner in the auditorium (this room has some very interesting things in it…hint hint hint) with some interesting (there is that word again!!) people. You DON’T want to miss this, trust me!!

8:00 – Depart for hotel and campsite

Thursday: Grand Caravan from Detroit to Columbus, Indiana

Thursday will commence with travel to Columbus, Indiana. Travel distance is approx 360 miles and about 6 hours of drive time to get from Warren to Columbus. If you have a CB radio, you are going to want to have it along!
Thursday afternoon will proceed with registration check in for both the event, and accommodations. We have available the Holiday Inn as well as CERAland.

For those who do not know, CERAland is an amazing place. It is the Cummins Employees Recreational Area RV Park. This is more than just your average campsite and is only open to Cummins employees. Thanks to Cummins though, they have opened their doors to our group!
Evening: Ice Cream Social

Friday: Tours and much, much more!

Friday will have MANY things! The day will cover a tour of Cummins Midrange Engine Plant where they build the Dodge B series motors, a show and shine, seminars with the Cummins staff, Ram will be bringing out some new trucks for us to test drive, and the day will end with a dinner at CERAland!

Saturday: Convoys, and racing!

Saturday will begin with a giant 400 truck convoy to Indianapolis Raceway park for the NHRDA diesel nationals at one of the most famous ¼ mile tracks in the world! There is more activities planned for the evening, but you will just have to come to find out what they are!!

Sunday: Race and return home

Sunday is the make-up day for the race should weather turn very nasty on Saturday. For many though, this will be the day that we point our trucks toward home, and say our goodbyes until next time.

Should you want to read more, many more details can be read at the following link: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/2011_CMEP_GTG.pdf

Registration for the Cummins tour is almost booked, and registration for the Warren tour is not yet opened (will open next week once the final details are worked out). Should you still want to drive with the caravan and attend the race at Inday, please feel free to join us!

Accommodations:

The following is a list of places for hotel and camping:

Holiday Inn (the headquarters hotel): 812-372-1541 - Be sure to mention you are part of the TDR so you get the discounted $90.00 per night rooms. (As on Wednesday last week only 12 rooms were left!)

Sleep Inn and Suites: 812-372-7200

Camping:

Is there a fee for the tour or a sign up sheet? I live up in Grand Blanc and would love to do this.

$35.00 per head (body is free! ), and I guess the link would help!

The Warren tour is a separate booking. Booking wont happen for a few more days and it looks like that part is free!

Have a few last things to work out with Dodge before I open that up.

P.S. Welcome to the forums and congrats on the first post!

Pino - You are 100% correct! The Durango is made at Jefferson!

You passed the test! You can come to the tour!

(Really, good catch and thanks! I have no clue why I put that in there but it should not be! Doh!)
