I actually counted the idi at 107 teeth but it was dark. mine is pretty close, I have compared it to the edge display. I agree the 58 teeth is bull maybe the powerstroke uses that tooth count. I used a 60 tooth blade and removed six teeth with nine in between each removed. Totaling 54 tooth reading per revolution. as far as accuracy goes the factory tach is about as accurate as the fuel gauge...lol My original concern was that with the six teeth missing, that the needle might bounce erratically or that it was going to throw a code in the transmission controller. It did neither. The tach needle is very steady compared to the speedometer.

Hey, i know this is a while after you've had to think about it, but i'm looking at your ring gear you've made for the tach to run off of. What i need to know is why you built it like you did... i've read completely different things from everywhere, example : you need our 58 pulse tach ring (bull), the inj pump on idi has 106 teeth so you need 53 on crank to read properly, and now i see your setup at 5 sets of 9's with a space of about 2 teeth in between, if i'm not mistaken. Basically i just need to know if your setup works 100% acurately, or if there would be a difference simply running 53, or if you had to change your setup because it didnt work 100% accurately. I really hope you can get back to me really soon as i want to make my tach work tomorrow! Hope to hear from you soon and THANKS!! Mikel
