Don't take this wrong but for the next year I would plan your trips to be near large trama centers. Your to valuable to your family not too. I passed a kidney stone on the road, you would not believe the pain. Fortunately I got to regional hospital and found RELIEF and great doctor. Much of this is luck, so put the odds in your favor. Most sincerely ....Dave
105 in Reno today. My reefer started working the last day of of our vacation. At least I didn't have to replace just yet. California hi way 88 nearly kicked our . My oil got to 232 and tranny got to 215. High altitude mountain climbing can be the a real test of a truck. These are great trucks.
The last day is always nice. It was good to say goodbye to job pressures and start anew. Dave
Dave, shouldn't have an issue hooked up to your truck and running the frigeon the inverter while towing...The new MS, has a Whirlpool residential fridge and a 1000 watt inverter...no problems...you should be able to tow all day and the fridge will run...no problem....bet thing that ever happened to an RV is the introduction of the residential type being used...more for long term usage..just like at home..We'll be full timing starting around August 23rd.
Keep me posted if you decide to go with a different 5er...I'd be more than glad to help you out if you need any help.
We have the older Dometic reefer and its failing. This trailer was not wired for the residential reefer so our inverter is not big enough should we try to retrofit. The replacement reefer is $4 grand. It's the 3 way four door Dometic made in Canada. It's so big we gotta take the window out to replace it. I'm trying figure out which way to go. We love this trailer but looks like we'll be parting ways pretty darn soon. So you think on the new trailers the inverter, plus a truck's alternator will keep the residential reefer working when underway down the road? Heard of any problems? The repair guys say these domestics are notarious for failing that's why RV manufacturers went with the home style reefer. ....thanks for the info. We're in northern cal at a KOA living out of an ice chest...Dave
I'm on the road , Northern California and the reefer is about to fail. The freezer is at 10f and the reefer is at 42f. They are telling there is no way to fix a bad dometic unit. Cost $4grand ? So they say. Holy crap. I'm gonna have to get a newer unit with a residential reefer....like you. I'll need two alternaters right ?
Waiting to get all the accessories put on it...Waiting to get the Onan 5.5KW propane generator installed..Probably be sometime next week... We are back to a 5er...not going back to a TH either..
