I am not a coon@$$, but I just started working down here in the area after graduating. I live in Broussard and hope to get a cummins very soon! I never really heard the word until I started looking for a place to stay. My landlord was like oh a redneck, you will get along good with these coon@$$es. lamoparpower thanks for the history lesson! I wondered why they used that word. I thought it was racist when I first heard it and was confused. In Arkansas, if some one was called a coon it was racist. Now, I just need to figure out why they call us and the Mississippi boys "stump jumpers".

I'll be working that day. I'm down for a more local dyno day though. I would like to go to the track (No Problem) one day too; its been about three years since I've been there.

I"m a Mississippi good ole boy and WE are referred as REDNECKS! No disrespect intended. I live in La. my grandmother was from New Orleans, La. I love my home state of Mississippi, but I love Louisiana too. I've heard of the con-nass' meaning and I'm so glad someoneelse does too. I'm also 1/4 American Indian and very proud of it!! Here is a reason for the "X" after alot of names down here too. It's because the some of the Cajun's didn't know how to spell their names or write so what they did was someone signed the persons name and that person would make their mark such as an "X" after their name and that was the legal means back then. Thats why you have names spelled like Comeaux, and Boudreaux, because they have just adopted that way of spelling it with the mark.
Just alittle more history lesson for ya.
