Wichita area alert!!

I thought I'd throw some information out there for your Wichita area guys...

My truck was broken in to sometime Sunday night into Monday early morning. I would guess somewhere between 12a.m. and 6 a.m.. This was in front of my residence in my normal spot along the street. There are dozens of other vehicles that park along the same street and from my short drive through the neighborhood yesterday morning, none of them appeared to be touched, specifically the vehicles nearest mine which were also along the street.... non-diesels FWIW.

They broke the passenger side door glass out but nothing appears to have been stolen. I don't know if the intent was simple vandalism or if they had theft on their mind but were deterred by the manual transmission. It is perplexing to me at the least.

What is slightly more interesting to me is that when I was having the glass replaced yesterday morning, a construction worker from Dondlinger came down to the glass shop to ask about my truck. He indicated that his Duramax had been broken in to at Gander Mountain along with another guys Cummins. Now, I don't live near Gander Moutain so that isn't a connection but the fact that all three vehicles were diesels is. Just and FYI for you guys that are local.

I'll post some pictures when I get home from work today as well.

The cummins that was broken into was ttitus's. His truck was parked in front of the store, and he was only in there for 15 min. It was around 5:30 pm! They didn't get anything of monetary value from his truck, I think just some insurance info and his day planner. They broke his passenger window too, and I don't think the cops have done squat.

Here's a few pictures...

Well, I went out and doubled checked and I still have my insurance card. The cops didn't do anything for me either... I called them right after I discovered the incident and I gave them the details over the phone, they gave me a case number and a phone number to call if I found anything missing. It's a bit of gray area for law enforcement because the evidence or lack there-of to be found.

I got my window retinted today and the guy at Altamere thought it could have been a pellet gun. Even with the size of the hole and the amount of glass sprayed throughout the truck.

Whatever the case, it was done on purpose. It wasn't something random. There was forethought because of the position of my truck(passenger side away from the road) they would've had to have been on foot.... and if they were on foot, why just do one vehicle??

Too bad for titus... I know how he feels.

It isn't a good feeling at all. You might want to inform the credit bureau's and set a fraud alert on your account to just be on the safe side. I have been checking my credit report frequently and there hasn't been any activity since it has happened, but I still don't feel like I am out of the water yet. I had a lot of personal identification taken the spare key to everything including my truck (maybe the manual turned them off as well?) and a gym bag.

I was talking to SLK and we think that we should set up a covert sting op at gander mountain and pound anything that comes close to the truck

You metioned that it could've been a pellet gun and that is exactly what it looks like. My bro' shot our truck window with a little bb pistol when he was a kid LOL - it nocked the whole window out
