Rumors

I have heard, recently, that the Cummins has trouble with biodiesel. It supposedly disolves gasket material, which I don't believe, and effects the fuel system in some deleterious way.
Any truth to that?

I don't buy that. My 2004.5 ran some B20 and did just fine. Got the high end of my normal fuel economy distribution. Plus in Cummins industrial engines they warranty up to b20, the highest in the industry!

- A maximum blend of 5% bio diesel (B5) is acceptable as long as the bio diesel mixture
meets ASTM specification D-975, D-975 - grade S-15, and ASTM D6751. A bio diesel fuel
blend that is higher than 5% is not acceptable without additional fuel processing because
these higher percentage bio diesel blends contain excess amounts of moisture which exceed the water stripping capability of the on-engine final fuel filter. Should a higher percentage bio diesel fuels be used an auxiliary water stripping filter will be required.

- A maximum blend of 20% bio diesel (B20) can be used by government, military, and
commercial fleets who equip their vehicle(s) with an optional water separator, and adhere
to the guidelines in the Department of Defense specification A-A-59693 (in addition to:
ASTM specification D-975, D-975 - grade S-15 and ASTM D6751)[/QUOTE

So, Okay, I think the question has been definitively answered. Now all I need to do is to A: print the info and tape it to the visor or the truck or B: Put a series of water seperators on the fuel line.

With a smile, I am

No I didn't Google that info I read it on another web site and book marked it. You see some times I get info over load and it gets all mixed up when I don't want it too!
