Central IL Bio brewing

With warmer months coming, and the cost of diesel continuing to go up and up....I want to get into brewing my own bio.

Is anybody else interested? I figure with a few people we can split the costs to startup (not much with an appleseed style reactor), have help putting everything together, and share the load of gathering oil and brewing.

So if you are interested please post up. I already have one source of oil confirmed.

Thanks

I have been putting this off for too long now. I have a family member whos best friend does this already on his farm in Eureka. I have been meaning to talk to him about it. I believe his source for waste oil dried up on him

I however have many sources for oil. I have two friends who are district managers for fast food joints. Both Wendy's and one with McDonald's.

I however do not have the room for a tank setup right now. I would be intrested in a joint effort possibly.

I am in Peoria, and Eureka is close. Like any source of oil, you need to make sure it is good oil. Non hydrogenated is best, I am not sure what McD's or Wendy's uses. I have a local supply that uses it so that is good. Still need to do a titration test to make sure it is ok, but I think it will be.

Are you close to Eureka? If this family members friend has the gear we could chip in and also help provide oil.

Thoughts?

I seen him at Christmas time. However I didn't get into discussion about it with him. I talked to my uncle and he did mention his supply dried up.

Do you have any equipment as of yet? Anything to do the tritation test with so maybe I can bring you some samples of oil. My friend Rod that is the district manager for Wendy's works out of one of the Peoria locations I know. I could hook you up with him if nothing else. Hes a good guy and understands us car nuts.

No equipment just yet, but I was thinking of a simple appleseed reactor. It is easily built with standard things from Lowes or Home Depot and can be built in an afternoon for less than 500 bucks.

I don't have the titration test items yet, but it won't be hard to put it together. Most importantly, ask your potential suppliers what kind of oil they use (peanut, pure vegetable etc etc), is it non-hydrogenated, and is it kept free from water (as much as possible). We can start there.

Where are you located?
