Thumbs up SouthBend is In!!!!

Well it took a while to finally work up the time and courage to do it; but I did, and so far (less than 100 miles) I like it!! I got the SB Con OFE and kept the stock hydraulics. The pedal is somewhat vague, but not in a bad way. You know she's hooked up though!! I've not gotten on it yet and I took a "personal" day due to the cold today and drove it around a while to "break it in". The more I drive it, the better I like it!!!

The old stock clutch was oil soaked due to a bad rear main seal again. I had it replaced about 10 days after I drove the truck from the stealership 3.5 years ago. The shop I took it to on Monday checked and replaced it per my instructions when I took it in to them. Anyone else have this problem with rear main seals??? That's 2 now in under 75,000 miles on the girl!! The oil probably didn't help the clutch slipping when I got a "happy foot" now and then. And now that I think about it, when we dynoed last May, it may have had oil contamination then. Hence the less than expected dyno #'s with the Juice turned up!!! What do y'all think??? The guys that did the clutch for me also told me the pilot bearing was gone/toast and part of it was lying in the bell housing when he took it off!!! I told him the truck still shifted fine and such. He said I was a lucky man. Usually these things take out the input shaft and 6th gear when they go like this one did!!! That would
ve been big $$$$ then to fix!!! Just a few "hot" spot on the flywheel that ground out, and it was good to go!!

There is some clutch noise when idling in neutral with the clutch engauged. Push in the clutch it goes away. There is also some noise if you get too far below the torque band and give her some pedal. Not loud, just noticeable. My truck is real quiet, so I hear things!!! I think this is gonna be a good thing!!!

Speaking of things floating around in the bell housing, when I did my clutch I found 3 chewed up pressure plate to flywheel bolts in the bell housing !@#$??@! The rest were tight and it was the original clutch,,,, who knows?? Needless to say I Loc-Tited everything I could on installation. Since then the clutch has been great, no slipping!!
