Business Opportunity on Big Island

Aloha Hawaii Chapter,

Just had a starter solenoid problem and found a gap in our business community: No Auto Electric shops anymore.

John in the Old Industrial (Kona) sold out last year. The other John in the new industrial (Kona) folded this year.

A guy named Lee is opening up a shop at the marina (Kona) but he's not ready, and may not be ready anytime soon.

If anyone in the Hawaii chapter could start up a auto electric shop and offer starter / alternator repairs & parts, you'd have a monopoly in Kona.

None of the auto parts stores carries solenoid repair kits ($25), only whole replacement starters ($400). I had to fix my starter by fashioning a couple of solenoid contacts from stainless angle stock ($5).

BTW, the Dodge dealer and Cummins West both wanted $775 for a starter.

Aloha, Dean.

Thanks. I'll contact them when these SS contacts go bad.

Call Tanaka Starter and Alternator Repair

He's in Hilo but services the whole island. Even if you need it now in Kona, it's no problem. I'm surprised you don't know him being fishing for so long. Mel has a Bertram 31 moored in Wailoa Basin.
