I dug into the project a bit today, managed to get the turbo and old manifold off the truck so I could see what all needs to be done, pretty straight forward project and so far lots of fun, The HTT manifold is of good quality and IMHO would do a better job than the OEM manifold by just bolting it up but I opted to fix it up a bit better. The exhaust ports on the manifold have a lip on them that I decided to remove and feather in for better exhaust gas flow that will result in less chance for heat buildup, the flange the turbo mounts to (manifold outlet) was fair but upon port matching with the template I made from the turbo left a little bit to be desired so I transfered the pattern onto the manifold with some blueing paint and matched up the ports for a better transfer of gasses and less heat builup once again. I believe the gasses will flow with minimual resistence now and a faster more effective spoolup will be noticable I am sure. Tomorrow I will check my work and put the thing back together. I got it all back together today, the job went pretty well, the manifold lined up to the Cummins perfectly, I mounted up the turbo and that too went very well, I did have to loosen my Jacobs brake from the downpipe and clock it just a touch for allignment. The HTT manifold has 2 plugs near the outlet flange that can be removed for a pyro, One plug serves 1,2and3 cylenders and the other plug for 4,5and6, I opted for the pyro to be in the 4,5,6 colection as it is well known that #6 runs the hottest so this will give me the peak EGT's and I can go from there. Didnt have a chance to run the truck but just around the town but I will have a report on the bennafit from the manifold some time next week from my daily 38 mile drive to work. My probe for the pyro quit working me as I had to adjust the brittle wiring but I ordered a new one and it should be here by next weekend for a full report on EGT. Cheers, Kevin |

nice job kevin. Did you take the maifold apart and polish the hole thing or just gasket match, or any thing to your turbo? I wish I still had the picture's of my small block head's that I PORTED, and polished. mirror finsh on the exh. ports and combustion chambers, and swirled intake ports. it's a shame some of the best looking work is hidden on motors but that's what keep's interesting.here are a few web site's to get supplies for the work above. burr bits ALL KINDS OF GOODIES HERE

I did port matching and polishing on the exhaust intake but didnt take the 3 piese apart, did the turbo flange as well as the turbo, I still havent got my new pyro probe yet so I have no EGT numbers to report, I guess I need to get ahold of them and see what happened to it I forgot all about it in the last week as I havnt drove the truck Cheers, Kevin |

Yall are forgetting about the most important thing! it comes assembled! WELL at least the one that i installed in a friends truck did. He has a HX-55/14cm2 and drove on it with the stock manifold. He ordered the HTT unit and we put it on. The turbo had noticable better spool up! AS good, if not better than his old KSB1!!! I was impressed! Dan PS....if you need some tech articals written up, I can beat a subject to death with the best of them! Let me know! haha! INFACT.....i have a write up on the VP-44 Install on my HD right now...........that ought to be a good one!

Got the pyro installed yesterday and am happy to report that The HTT manifold decreased the max EGT's by about 50-60*, at a WOT run I can only hit 1040 now, before I could hit 1100 and they climb alot slower now I spose from the better smoother flow. I havnt towed with it since the bomb but will report back when I do, Towing will be the real teller Cheers, Kevin |
