I too had some good results with synthetic diff lube. While changing all the oils in the entire truck..a ritual I always perform when I take ownership of a unfamiliar vehical, Anyway, I drained the old nasty dino out which was black and bubbly, and swapped it with some Shaeffers 70w90 with Moly. I couldnt believe how slick this stuff was! And sticky too. The only bad thing was it was already black brand new, so I wrote down the mileage in my glove box thingy. Anyway, You might think I am trippin out and smokin crack, but see, my truck doesnt have a bed yet, and when I take off in the gravel I ease her with the throttle...too much and I just get wheel spin...anyway, after the moly treatment, It spins no matter how easy I try to take off in the gravel...it is dang hard to get her going. So much, that now I make it a point not to stop in gravel or dirt. So that tells me shes turning a bit easier....call me crazy, but I know what I feel. Just my :imo: on the subject of synthetic oils.

I used Royal Purple in my differentials for quite some time but recently switched to Schaeffer's. It looks better for whatever that's worth.

One thing I noticed back when I ran dino in the differentials is that when it got down below zero my truck didn't coast to a stop very well, sometimes I had to give it a little pedal to make it the last twenty feet before stopping. Not so with synthetic.

I would thin my gear oil with Marvel mystery oil when I lived in N.D. and MT.
