Multi-Stage Fuel Filtration

Multi-Stage Fuel Filtration

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The attached article is about how we deal w/ fuel filtration in a very harsh environment.. Although written with marine applications as the primary focus, when you really get down to the meat of the subject, it's all the same.. You cannot feed your diesel TOO CLEAN #2, nor can you always rely on the "minimum" the factory supplies that may just squeak you by....

Hopefully, you will glean some info here that will allow you to make a more informed decision in the design of your fuel delivery system for your Cummins (or ?) engine..

Great article

You've got me thinking now for something a little better between my tank and fuel pump instead of that little inline strainer.

Take a look at pic # 80 in ( lift pump how i do) I have read all this and more imfo on filtration. I to agree that filtration is the key. FYI catapellar mandates the use of these filters to maintane warrantty, also known as cat spec filters. Thats what i have had on my truck for two years now. I cut every fillter change open, check to see what i see. There is a grate artical in filtskleen.com that also explains how the new diesel brakes down and creates its own media. one thing is for sure (i my opinion) 1 stock filter, even if it is the new wazoo 7 micron unit dos not cut it.

That looks pretty much like the setup that cummins sends out with our 4bt motors we use. it mounts up on the motor much like where the stock canister one is on the 5.9 dodge motors but instead of the single canister it has 2 spin on filters. IIRC those filters are exactly the same p# as the ones that we use too...

Im not sure if the fuel filter setup off of one of these 4bt's would work on a 6bt motor but it would be nice. It would save having to remote mount the filters...

Edit: Heres what im talking about, this is the filter assy that comes with our 4bt motors.
