Before you guys get all AR-AR-AR-AR on us let me remind you that the Cummins rod carries 1/6th of the load and both the V-8 rods carry 1/8th of the load but there is still a huge difference in these rods, I have been told that the 2 V-8 rods combined weigh slightly more than the Cummins rod but thats just heresay and I cant vouch for its accuracy.

Cheers, Kevin

I would say that is true if you can compare a gas engine to a diesel engine. The SB Chevy rods p/ pair weigh slightly more than the I6 rods do.

also keep in mind that the cummins has a much longer stroke. meaning higher con.rod angles and more rotational G force.(also why your RPM is so low)

i think your right, also the top duramax rod looks like a GM 6.2/6.5 rod not a D-max

It sure is easy to see the difference of long stroke vs. high RPM , Last summer I watched a twin turbo D-max on the rollers and I will say that thing revved fast, he was at top rpm in a blink of the eye........impressive but I wouldnt trade the torque and longivity of the Cummins fer that

well HP is a sum of Torque x RPM / 5252

Torque tells you how much thrust you have to get a load moving. But HP is how fast you can keep it moving.

Some companies are gambling thinking that a higher RPM diesel that has a broader (usable) RPM range is what'll sell.

Have you ever noticed all of the 1,000 ft/lbs Cummins are making 500 hp, that's because they can't be rev'd past 3K the Powerstrokes and Duramaxes can spin up to around 4K and although they don't make quite the same raw torque at the fly wheel as the cummins they make up for it with lower gears and more RPM's
