Question Engine or Motor?

In my opinion a motor is turned by electricity and an engine is turned by some sort of fuel and or steam. Correct me if I am wrong, but if I am correct why don't they call Detroit the Engine City instead of the Motor City?

I wish the motor/engine city would just go away and die already! They are a huge drain on the otherwise nice state of Michigan!

Yup

I agree it is more catchy but why at the start of a race they announce "Drivers start your engines". Just wondering.

Heres the thing, does an outboard motor run on electricity? Don't think so! Maybe them fellers in the Marine business need to jump on board, and get with the program!

Who cares? If you're on a Cummins site and you can't tell what people are talking about when they say motor then you're a dumba$$

Just to clarify, I'm speaking in general terms. I'm not talkong about any particular person.

Well, Detroit was the most dangerous city in 2007 in the US based on this

The following table ranks the safest and most dangerous cities in the United States as of 2007. The cities all have populations of more than 75,000. The rankings are based on a city's rate for six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft.

Massive unemployment, mayor in jail on felony convictions, major drain on our economy, need I say more?

Electric = Motor
Engine = Combustion
