Question regeneration

I have owned my truck for less than a month. How do I know when my truck is "regenerating" and how often does it do this?

It will say it on the overhead display. That being said, I've heard that they do it "very often" depending on how you drive, but I haven't seen it happen yet in the couple thousand miles I have on my truck. Anyone know how often is often?
