dying batteries?

it seems the last couple mornings when i start my truck my voltage is low. starts fine but lights are dim and my gauge is at about 10-12ish. after a couple minutes of warm up its fine. is this normal? it is starting to frost at night and i also just installed a new dvd deck. think its drawing power at night or am i just paranoid?

its the grid heater...

It will cycle on and off (depending on temps, its pcm controlled) and you should be able to watch the gauge flick back and forth every couple of seconds on a cold start as the grid heaters cycle on and off. t

they all do it, the grid heaters draw somewhere in the neighborhood of 100amps, much more than the alternator is putting out at idle, thus the dimming lights.
