new radio/cd player in older truck

Does anybody know if the new radio/cd players will physically fit in a 2001 2500 Ram? I know that i need a new wiring harness adapter, but i need to know if i can swap a newer p/u or Chrysler am/fm/cd player for my am/fm/cassette. I don't want to go with a aftermarket because i'm not real hip to the look of the dash adapter kits on the single DIN radios. Anybody swapped a new one in? Craigslist takeouts look pretty good....

They should have a head unit that would fit w/o an adapter. Not sure though. When you say newer, how new do you mean? Try to get one from the same year. On a side note I got a CD player out of an 05 Jeep and it doesn't have the scroll/slide things that my 03 had, so maybe look for one of those(I believe Jeep and Dodge radios interchange).

Like on the bottom left of the CD player in this pic ( DODGE PARTS 02-05 ) it has the scroll things for trebble and bass, but you can get one with a button, shaped like the seek button, that says 'Audio' instead of those. It looks much better.
