Question I know....

you guys hate it when when a fuel mileage question comes up but at least hear me out. Im not expecting 25+mpg or some other B.S. claim but from the truck I am looking for in my sig what can expect under somewhat sane driving. My old truck was a 1990 Dodge W250 xtracab longbed 4x4 with an auto, and 360 gasser and running on 33in. tires. My best mileage in that around town was 8, and with an average of 6. Ironically its best mileage on the freeway was towing a 6000lb trailer and it got 11 but then again i wasnt driving. So almost anything is an improvment. Is it unwise to think 15mpg around town? Any input would be appreciated since I think I found my truck. Also is there anyway to figure out the gear ratio with the VIN #?
Thanks in advance!!!!

The 12v were generally the best for milage. But my truck in my sig gets an avg. of 17.5 around town and back and forth to work (12 miles, all back roads, 6 stop signs, 1 every other mile).

I think ANY diesel will beat your old gasser. I'm a big Dodge truck fan, and had LOTS of gasser's. Pre Magnum ('91 and older,) were not great on power OR milage. The intro of the Magnum's were alot better than the old non Magnum's. But a diesel will still be better. Especially if you're towing.

Yea the old LA V8's werent known for mileage especially in that truck. But to be fair I drove like a madman in that truck and it never broke down on me or left me stranded, it was just very, very thirsty.

I looked on the Ram index on a link from one of these posts but they there estimates were more of a rule of thumb not real driving. If it makes any difference im 19 years old.
